All the Gold in the World
A thought experiment made visible: if all the gold ever mined by humankind - approximately 216,000 tonnes - were gathered into a single form, it would create a perfect cube measuring 22 meters on each side. Set here on Dam Square in Amsterdam, this imagined monument reveals the true scale of humanity’s entire pursuit of gold since the dawn of civilisation. A solid, gleaming mass - both dazzling and finite - reflecting our collective history of desire, extraction, and value.
