Edwin Nikkels – Filmmaker & Digital Artist

Edwin Nikkels is a filmmaker and digital artist based in Amsterdam, working at the intersection of storytelling, design and technology. With a background in visual effects and multimedia-design from the Netherlands Film and Television School (NFTA), he brings a clear visual language to each project, balancing concept, craft, and collaboration.

Over the years, Edwin has worked with a wide range of agencies, studios, and production companies on campaigns for brands such as Coca-Cola, Nike, Nintendo, Nissan, Sony PlayStation, and Volvo. His work spans commercial film, digital content, and cross-media storytelling.

One notable project includes his role as film director and digital artist on Volvo’s 'The Hunt', an online experience created to support the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. The campaign received several international awards, including a Cannes Lion, Webby Award, and Golden Epica.

In addition to his commercial work, Edwin has contributed as a guest lecturer at the NFTA and The Hague University of Applied Sciences, reflecting a commitment to sharing knowledge and fostering new creative talent.

He believes in the potential of visual media to engage and resonate:

'It’s about the visual. I aim to draw people in and create space for imagination.'

Edwin is available for collaboration on commercial, narrative, and digital projects, particularly where a strong visual approach and cross-disciplinary thinking are needed.
